Electability, Likeability: valid issues

I take the unpopular position that being electable or being likable ARE important features for a presidential candidate to have.

My reasoning: political skill is like other skills. It can be developed with work, but, as with other skills, people have different aptitudes for it. Example: Bill Clinton and Barack Obama had a lot of it; Al Gore and Hillary Clinton: not so much.

And if you have a low aptitude for it, you have little chance of winning the general election, no matter how much you know about policy and how sound your policy proposals are.

It is NOT just “all about platform.”
