Peoria Chiefs Baseball

The Chiefs had a great series with the Western Michigan Whitecaps, winning it 4-2. I talked about the opening loss.

But then the Chiefs rallied to win the Wednesday game 8-7, coming from behind twice: tied it 5-5 in the 9’th then rallied from 7-5 down in the 10’th. That game featured a bizarre play at the end.
It appeared that the Chiefs won it with a 3 run home run to right but it was ruled foul..though the Chiefs protested. So the same batter goes to left center to leave no doubt!

Then comes the next night: back and forth game saw the Chiefs win it 5-4 in the bottom of the 9’th.

Friday night: well, 9-1 Whitecaps and it was not close

Saturday: well, the Chiefs did go down 2-0, but rallied to tie it in the 7’th, get 3 more in the 8’th and hold on to win 5-2. For the first time in this series the Chiefs clearly outplayed the Whitecaps.

Today: B went with me and was treated to another 10 run game which went 5-4 Chiefs.

The Chiefs lead 2-0, Whitecaps came back (in an inning that almost saw the managers go at it after a “hit by pitch”, ) to tie at 2, then the teams traded runs (Chiefs getting 1 in the 9’th) but then..in the 10’th, the second balk of the day gave the Whitecaps a 5-4 lead.

But in the bottom: you know the story by now: 1 run to tie it..bases loaded (helped by mistakes) then a walk with bases loaded won the game.

So, while the Chiefs were blown out twice, they won 4 close games (3 walk offs) to win the series 4-2 vs a very good team.
