Well, the day came up, well, sticky. Temperature 73 F, 91 percent humidity. Yes, I carried water. I didn’t know what I wanted to do, and I felt a bit stiff and tired at the start. Garmin got mile one in 15:30!
The first 3 miles (High Street) felt ok but by 3.4 or so..I was not having fun and stopped for a few seconds. I persuaded myself to go into Bradley Park for some loops, but by mile 4, I was feeling a bit uncomfortable; some mild ache in the left hip/glute. So I walked to the picnic shelter/bathroom (added perhaps .15 total?) and then went to the bathroom and did some McKenzie stretches (VERY stiff). Felt better so I continued on and it went ok..though I was feeling it after dog park hill. Last mile per Garmin: 16!
I thought “oh no..not COVID again” but then I realized that my slow pace was doing me no favors. So on the lower loop I picked it up quite a bit and started to feel good again.
Felt strong in my last mile (13:00) and then I walked to Bradley Ave. and back to make sure I had at least 8. Moving time was 1:59:13 (per Garmin) though with the break it was 2:03:32.
The lesson here is that if i am too fatigued to walk quickly, I’ll feel it.
Still, no pain pills in months.
Game: Tracy, and this time Barbara and family were there.
And the Chiefs gave up 1 run in the first, and it was 1-0 going into the bottom of the 9’th. Then with 1 out, the Chiefs got two hits and had runners on 1’st and 3’rd. An attempt at a squeeze bunt went awry as the ball went straight back to the pitcher which enabled a play at the plate. Still, there was one out left and the Chiefs got a hit to score the runner from second, so it was tied after 9!
But..home run (and a ghost runner) put the Kernels up 3-1 and while the Chiefs were able to score their ghost runner…they weren’t able to tie it again.
Every game in this series has been decided by 1 run.
