First, my mundane personal stuff. I found out that a situation was not what I thought it was.
Workout notes: PT/strength combo, then 4 miles of walking.
PT/strength: 10 crunch pull ups, 10 singles, set of 10 (really), 4 sets of 5 chins.
Push ups with PT: 20-10-20-20-20-10 (all flat)
bench: Swiss bar: 5 x 134, 5 x 145, 3 sets of 4 x 145
high incline: 10 x 75, 10 x 85, 9 x 96 (and 1 pin press to get it back)
4 mile walk: W. Peoria course (3.14) in 44:44 (14:15 pace), then 1.17 cool down in 18:30 (15:46)
Now for the Chiefs.
It did not start that well. A rough 3 run second inning put Quad Cities up 3-0. The Chiefs left the bases full in the bottom of the second. Then the pitchers on each side took over until the top of the 8’th when Quad Cities got two more and it was 5-0.
The teams traded scoreless innings and so it was 5-0 River Bandits going into the bottom of the 9’th. I was resigned to defeat.
But Quad Cities put in a closer then:
Single. Single. Hit by pitch. Walk. Now it is 5-1 and there is some hope.
Ground into a force out scores 1 more and it is now 5-2 with 1 out, with 2 on.
Hit by pitch. Bases loaded again, but it is 5-2 with 1 out.
New pitcher.
Single to right field, just outside the reach of the first baseman. Runners from 3’rd and second score and it is 5-4 with 1 out, runners on first and 3rd. Still 1 out.
Double scores the runner from 3’rd, moves runner from 1’st to 3rd. It is now 5-5 with runners on 2’nd and 3’rd. Coach puts in a fast pinch runner on 3’rd and QC intentionally walks the next batter to load the bases.
Then the next batter, with 2 strikes, hits a sharp ground ball to 3’rd. The hurried throw was just a bit off and off of the catcher’s glove (remember the fast pinch runner?) and the Chiefs win 6-5! Pity so few were here to see it.
