You can see the progression. Note: last report is for 3 days: 428.3 a day. Last month: 49 deaths. 6 deaths from November 23 to December 10. That is acceleration. Hospitalizations: 9 to 34 to 55

And this is why I am laying low and not doing what I was doing even 3-4 weeks ago. New ballgame.

I also did some minor errands; intense course preparation starts tomorrow; I’ll screw around with m-files and some other things.

Workout notes: weights only: pull ups: 4 sets of 10, 4 of 5 (14 F).

push ups: 2 sets of 25 to the floor, 1 walk 10 (4:48), dead bug, leg lifts, abs, etc.)

bench presses: 3 sets of 5 x 150 lb (keeping a watch on the shoulder)

rows: 3 x 10 of 60 (each arm)

curls: 3 sets of 10 x 50

shoulder presses: 2 sets of 10 x 103 of questionable depth, the 10 x 98 with a wider grip felt better.

Note: outdoor pull ups are always harder when it is cold.

We are all Florida now

Well, I’ve got a week and 2 days to prepare. I have some work related opinions that I’ll keep private.

Yep…and now you have blue-checks pushing “it is just the flu” stuff; yes, severe illness is less likely GIVEN you catch covid, but many more people are catching it.

Should the strategies change? Of course, but mitigation measures are still in order (e. g. schools should go remote as local conditions warrant..just not longer than necessary).

And yeah, I’d imagine things are tense in various households, especially if there is a higher risk person in it. We are two people: one old and one elderly so we have to be more careful than most, right now. A look at this blog will show that I went out and did stuff while the numbers were lower. I am laying relatively low for right now though.

So…it appears that there is no longer appetite for mitigation measures so it is every person for themselves; at least at work I can enforce the mask mandate (and will) and we have a vaccine mandate.

Personally: motivation to go “above and beyond” is all but non-existent.


Workout notes: 1:03 hour of cycling with 3 miles of harder stuff, 12 of medium and 7 easy (22 fake miles…similar to maybe 15 real miles?) Half hearted stretching.
